Wellness Achiever, Patty Marascuilo

I consider myself to be an average woman.

My initial motivation to take on wellness was through a personal desire to live longer and healthier in my old age. My mother died of colon cancer and I’m convinced that a lot of her choices may have precipitated that. With 20 good years of smoking, my father eventually died of emphysema and the last few years were very difficult for him.  I starting thinking, “If I’m going to be here, I want to be healthy – I don’t want to be getting sick and taking drugs into my old age.”

As a child, I was overweight—good nutrition wasn’t modeled for me when I was growing up.

Since childhood, my weight has gone up and down about ten pounds. At my heaviest, I may have been 20 pounds overweight. As an adult, I learned more about nutrition through the supplements I was taking. Even before Ziquin, I had realized the significance of liquid vitamins. But I decided to try Ziquin as a result of my friend, Tina Johnson, who is a Wellness Coach.

What made the difference with Ziquin was the education – the conference calls, the informational brochure, and the personal coaching calls – keeping me in touch with my health.

The last company from which I purchased supplements was really pushy about the sales—it was more about selling product and recruiting others to sell than bettering your life. Of course, we all know we need to make a profit, we need to make money. But if you take actions for the right reasons, the money will come.  I don’t know of any other companies which offer what Ziquin does.  The additional information that I get to keep is invaluable.

After a year and a half of slowly incorporating Ziquin products into my regimen, I finally decided to commit to ALL the Ziquin rejuvenation strategies.

Undergoing a major personal event change, I was ready for a full overhaul, particularly with Ziquin’s dietary recommendations. So I incorporated the low-glycemic diet and really went for it. Within the first few days, I dropped three pounds!

A couple of people at work would ask me what I was doing – they’d say, “Wow, Patty you’ve lost some weight.”  And I just talk about what I do,

Not making a big deal about it, but the information spreads! It’s a lot about habit forming – not the thinking, just the doing.  Two of my co-workers also started on Ziquin and we shared recipes, which was fun and really helpful. I gave up coffee, but not the green tea. No more peaks and valleys!

My retracing started the first week of my new diet.

I was probably withdrawing from all the carbohydrates and fried foods. Within the first few days, I was feeling nauseous. I had to force myself to eat, feeling flu-like symptoms all the time. I also went through some grief, some sense of loss. I began to feel some terrible fatigue. I remember times where I was so tired, I could barely blow-dry my hair! That lasted around two weeks. Then, my scalp began breaking out. It was very tender—my whole head hurt. The entire time, however, I had my wellness coach. I knew I was undergoing retracing and that it was all good.  Actually, it gave me more motivation to keep on going!

With my weight loss, it was enough to precipitate a stepped-up exercise regimen.

I knew that exercise was good for me. After the retracing ended, I finally got into the habit. I began to incorporate a workout regimen based upon my heart rate and conditioning. I’m really focused on supporting my heart’s health—this is the base of my anti-aging program. With my particular workout program, I can measure and monitor my results.

Since losing the first couple pounds the first few days, my weight loss has incrementally dropped.

Overall, I lost about 10 pounds within the first 90 days. I also lost inches, which I measured with a tape, as well as dropping a size. On my new diet, I would like to add that I eat PLENTY of the good fats! In addition to my EFA Complete, I eat eggs every day. Avocados, whole fat yogurt, and olive oil are all a part of my diet.  I consume probably up to a quarter cup of olive oil every day!  And I still continue to drop weight!!

People want to look thinner or younger, but I want to have the healthiest HEART possible.

I definitely think more clearly, and I also wake up in the morning without puffy eyes or face! So I don’t mind looking at my face in the mornings.  I don’t have fluctuations in my appearance that many women experience

That isn’t the reason why I’m doing what I’m doing. That was the result.

Before my Ziquin diet, I drank a little alcohol occasionally. Now, I just choose not to drink because of all the toxins.  Plus, I don’t snack anymore—no more popcorn or vending machines!  I just don’t crave the bad things anymore. I just go for the things I like because they’re satisfying.

My daughters are seeing what I’m doing. And now, my daughters are taking care of themselves.  As a mother, it’s like –Wow!

You can tell your kids all sorts of things, but then you’re just Mom and nagging.  By taking care of myself and valuing myself, I see the effect it has had on my daughters. With about four months of consistent dietary changes, my 16-year-old daughter even loves the food I cook! At first, of course, she was resistant. But now, she loves my millet dishes and on her own volition, she takes my food to lunch. She doesn’t like fast or fried foods anymore. It just warms my heart, because she’s doing it all on her own.

Wellness is really important for me – I believe the world really needs to focus on wellness.

If you look at the world, there’s a lot of trouble going on. With all of the wars and destruction out there, you begin to think, how can I make a difference? It can be overwhelming, but at the same time it is incredibly empowering, to take charge of your life. We have to quit being victims – we have to take charge. Personal physical wellness is the beginning of achieving true wellness—of body, mind, and spirit.
