Welcome to the Ziquin Advisory Board. These influential world thinkers serve the community as educators and agents for improving quality of life.

It is our pleasure to introduce you to the Ziquin Advisory Board. These board members serve the community as educators for improving quality of life through their specialties of writing, research and medicine.

Dr. James N. Yamazaki, a retired pediatrician and UCLA professor emeritus of pediatrics, inspires a worldwide audience to examine the issues and broad implications of nuclear proliferation. He shares his insights and knowledge about the fallout from nuclear explosions in his book, Children of the Atomic Bomb.

His work began following World War II when the US government appointed Dr. Yamazaki to head the US Atomic Bomb Medical Team. He worked with families whose lives were impacted by nuclear radiation from Hiroshima, Nagasaki and the Marshall Islands. Yamazaki continued his research at UCLA as a clinical professor of pediatrics. Today he collaborates with the UCLA Asian-American Studies Center.

Dr. Yamazaki is a renowned speaker throughout the US and Asia. He received the highest humanitarian award from the Japanese government for his lifetime of work. He is a keynote speaker for Physicians for Social Responsibility (1985 Nobel Peace Prize co-recipients currently involved with environmental health, safe energy and nuclear disarmament).

Currently Dr. Yamazaki advises Schecter Films and Physicians for Social Responsibility on films of contemporary and historical importance regarding the influence of atomic warfare on future generations.
